With 32 bit apps inability to address 4G I selected the 64 bit version of Vista Home Premium and like you am finding that Microsoft's Virtual PC does not support it. So I can either spend another $250 to upgrade (and is that a smooth just pop the disk in upgrade?) or buying VMware Workstation for $180.

Apple *should* have nothing to fear from this, but sadly I suspect the lemmings will rush out and buy it anyway. I still prefer clean installs over upgrades, though Microsoft has made progress with refining the upgrade process, and of course you're going to get the absolute best experience buying a new PC with Vista preinstalled. If your computer is more than two years old, you should upgrade to a Vista PC as soon as possible

First few minutes with Vista
Try most of the manufacturers, (Dell excepted) try to buy a PC *without* Vista. "PAHleessee", spare us the Microsoft PR. Company used web special software on oracle server so that was left alone. they were sold them 2 Servers with linux plus 18 PC's with linux all equipped with by switching to linux they saved in license fee$ to M$ enough to employ an extra staff member for a year *and* buy PC number 19 for that new staff member.
