I just want something that'll burn disks at once and I won't be doing anything else on the PC while it's working. I've got well used to leaving the PC alone to get on with it for 40 minutes or so at a time. That's how long the old Memorex *2 drive takes! The question is: will these new ones burn sufficiently slowly

Windows Vista or XP on my pc?
All of these "Macs are better than PC postings" of yours are worthless until Maccies stop buying PC's for everyone they know. The proof is in the purchase. And Maccies are purchasing PC's over Macs for their relatives. Josh I've not purchased a PC for anyone, so buzz off! Me: "What made you buy a PC?

VISTA - the best money can buy.
Since these years were the worst to buy a PC (there was the standard change, the new slots for processors, memmories etc.) now we either have to hunt for expensive obsoleted parts on EBay, or invest in a new PC. I prefer the first mode, cause I don't need a hyperfast machine just for typing and searching the Net.

Vista pricing turns Windows in a LUXURY item
I don't buy a PC just to sim, or just to play videos or music. It's a personal work and entertainment tool that does a wide variety of things for me. If people do stay away from Vista in droves, do you honestly think they won't backtrack and reconsider DRM or any other troublesome feature?

Vista ultimate is $399 for the full version (not the upgrade). You can get Vista home basic for $99 if you are already running XP. Finally, you can get it for 'free' if you buy a new PC. Don't make me explain that OEM software 'pays' for the Windows license... That's the kicker there. Evidently M$ or its chief

Why some of us are concerned about Vista
If you purchased a legitimate copy of Vista, it should quickly activate over the Internet. (You can instead activate by calling Microsoft on the phone, which avoids your PC exchanging information with Microsoft's server.) I'm not going into detail today on the merits of buying Vista at retail instead of buying a

Vista MCE sold seperately?
Like those dirt cheap printers; it can be cheaper to throw the printer away and buy a new one than to buy replacement ink cartridges. I think it's common knowledge now that printer manufacturers cut the price of their printers to the bone and make hyooooge profits on the cartridges to make up for it.

Windows Vista or XP on my pc?
I connected the Scanner to the Vista PC, Vista saw it, but was unable to find\install a driver. I was hoping that maybe Vista would assign a native driver and it would work. Does anyone have any suggestions/ideas (short of buying a new Vista Ready Scanner) as to how I might get this Scanner to work under Vista?

I suppose EDO RAM is still available elsewhere. And I'm not bothered about re-writing. All I need to do is burn a whole disk at a time and it doesn't matter how slowly. I'm used to 2x and not being able to use the PC for anything else while it's doing it. The older it is, the more expensive the RAM.
